— THEMAGIC5 announces the launch of a new Kickstarter campaign to develop a custom-fit facial interface compatible with the Oculus Virtual Reality (VR) headset. After creating the world’s first custom-fit swimming goggles, THEMAGIC5 have expanded their product base to
introduce customized facial interfaces that are out-of-the-box compatible with the Oculus VR headset and customized based on a smartphone facial scan. The increased comfort from a custom-fit facial interface enhances user experience by reducing tension on the head straps, eliminating pressure marks on the face, and allowing for longer wear time.

“When you buy VR headsets, most of that product is the software and the computer power. You only get a one-size-fits-all facial interface that you click-in and adjust with a strap—that’s it. The Oculus Quest 2 weighs over a pound and projects about 5.5 inches from your face. That puts a lot of pressure on your face to hold up the headset when you use it. If that weight isn’t evenly distributed, it causes a lot of discomfort, quick fatigue, and early abandonment,” THEMAGIC5 co-founder Rasmus Barfred explains. “We have taken our fitting technology and the parameters of the facial interface to offer the same solution and experience THEMAGIC5 is known for in the world of swimming goggles, to optimize wearability so anyone can wear a VR headset as long as they’d like.”

The Kickstarter campaign will go live 19 October 2022 for a period of 35 days. THEMAGIC5 set a funding target of $40,000.00. To participate in the funding, “backers” pre-order custom VR interfaces at special rates with additional rewards. THEMAGIC5 set a six month target for product
fulfillment.

ABOUT THEMAGIC5

THEMAGIC5 is a technology company that creates customized consumer products using proprietary fitting technology. Initially, the technology was applied in conjunction with smartphone facial scanning to offer custom-fit swimming goggles. To date, THEMAGIC5 have sold over 100,000 custom goggles. The company was featured on the business television show Shark Tank and subsequently received $1,000,000.00 of financial investment from Robert Herjavec and Mark Cuban in 2021.

Founded in 2017 by professional swimmers and triathletes Bo Haaber, Rasmus Barfred, and Niklas Hedegaard, THEMAGIC5 is the world’s first company to offer custom-fit goggles for swimmers, so they can focus on their training, not their equipment.
