Fun fact

Michael Andrew became the youngest American swimmer to turn professional, signing his first professional contract at just 14 years old.

Michael Andrew is one of the most versatile swimmers of his generation, known for competing at an elite level across multiple strokes including freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, and individual medley. His breakthrough came early: as a teenager he dominated the junior circuit, breaking more than 100 USA Swimming National Age Group records and setting multiple junior world records. At just 17 years old he captured his first world title in the 100m individual medley at the 2016 Short Course World Championships, announcing himself as a global swimming talent.
Andrew’s international reputation continued to grow as he transitioned into senior competition. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, he won Olympic gold as part of the United States’ 4×100m medley relay team, which set an Olympic and world record. He also reached multiple Olympic finals individually and has continued to collect medals at world championships, including becoming the first swimmer in history to medal in three different 50-meter events at a single World Championships.

Outside the pool, Michael Andrew is known for taking an unconventional approach to elite training. Rather than following traditional high-volume swim programs, he trains under the guidance of his father using a method focused on Ultra Short Race Pace Training, emphasizing race-speed intensity and efficiency. Andrew also shares insights into training, lifestyle, and faith through interviews and social media, positioning himself as both an athlete and an ambassador for the sport of swimming.
