THEMAGIC5 ANNOUNCES PATENT FOR PROPRIETARY FITTING TECHNOLOGY

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, USA, 23 JULY 2024 — THEMAGIC5 announces the successful patenting of their proprietary fitting technology in the generation of user-customized goggles from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. 

The patent relates to the method of identifying and applying data for the production of user-customised goggles.

The problems of the “one size fits all” model are not isolated to swimming goggles. With their patented “OptimalFittingTechnology™”, THEMAGIC5 can bring better fit and increased comfort to multiple products in various industries. 

THEMAGIC5 changed the world of swimming by solving the common problems of the “one size fits all” swimming goggle. Traditional goggles leak, are uncomfortable, and often need to be worn so tight they are painful, leave marks, and ultimately take away from the swimming experience. THEMAGIC5 goggles are different. Since they are customized to fit each individual face perfectly, the goggles don’t need to be worn extremely tight to create a seal. The goggles can be worn comfortably, without leaks or pressure marks, and the swimmer can focus on swimming. 

Using the model that “one size fits only one,” THEMAGIC5 can offer the same better fit and increased comfort experience to consumer products beyond swimming goggles. 

HOW IT WORKS

Each pair of THEMAGIC5 uses their “OptimalFittingTechnology™” to find the best fit for each person. After ordering a pair of goggles online, customers are then directed to the app where they are guided through the easy face scanning process. The scan data is used to create an exact 3D-model of the customers’ face which allows the OptimalFittingTechnology™ to find the perfect placement of the goggle on the users’ face. Next, advanced robots contour each gasket to match the exact curvature of each eye socket. An optimal size nose piece is selected to connect each gasket to complete the customization process. Finally, the goggles are prepared to ship and, from scan to doorstep, the production process only takes a few hours. 

THEMAGIC5 customization process now protected by their patent includes: extracting data from the user’s phone scan, building a 3D model based on this data, and placing an object (in this case, swimming goggles) on the customers face. 

THE PATENT

In detail, the patent (USPTO 11,857,464, issued 2 January 2024) titled “User-Customised Goggles” protects the proprietary fitting technology that enables:

• The method of identifying data for producing user-customised goggles;
• The method of receiving an input of 3D-data defining the contour and dimension of the face, at least in the area around the eyes;
• Identifying contact areas on the contacting surface;
• Providing structure-data based on said input of 3D-data and said contact areas where the structure-data is used for designing at least part of the goggles adapted to contact the face of the user.

As such, the patent can be applied to include: Goggles for various uses including, but not limited to, swimming, working with power tools or welding, laboratory work, skiing, fire-fighting, gas-masks, etc.
