HE SWIMS 10K. THEN COMES TO WORK.

Meet Ivan Puskovitch.

Olympic open-water swimmer - USA 5K & 10K National Champion - Pan Pacs podium finisher.

And, slightly unusually...

Facial Recognition Engineer at THEMAGIC5.

Yep. Ivan doesn't just race in our goggles.

He helps make yours.

When he's not spending hours swimming ridiculous distances, Ivan works in our Product & Production team on the technology behind THEMAGIC5's custom fit.

Facial geometry.

3D scan data.

Fit algorithms.

Turning thousands of data points from a face scan into a pair of goggles designed for one specific face.

Your face.

Which means when Ivan talks about what swimmers need from their goggles, we tend to listen.

He's tested them in the pool.

He's tested them in open water.

He's tested them over 10 kilometers of racing.

And then he's gone back to work and helped make them better.

That's a pretty good product development loop.

But Ivan's approach to swimming and engineering actually have a lot in common.

“I’m a firm believer that anyone can be successful if you put in the work. It’s one of those sports if you are going to put in the work, no matter how much talent you have, you can be the best and that takes a certain amount of loyalty to the craft.”

That obsession with putting in the work is something we understand.

Because making goggles fit differently isn't about one big breakthrough.

It's thousands of scans. Thousands of faces. Constant testing, learning and refining.

And occasionally having an Olympian on the engineering team doesn't hurt.

Ivan has been swimming since he was young, but despite the Olympics, national titles and thousands upon thousands of training kilometers, there's something else he doesn't want to lose:

“I’ve always considered myself lucky to find what I fell in love with at such a young age. The key is that you have to start the sport in a fun way, fun but productive, and then it’s your job to hang on to that feeling.”

We like that.

Take the work seriously.

Don't forget why you swim.

And make really good goggles along the way.
